Genitorturers...

Wednesday, September 30, 2009
...are still around? I'll be damned. Appearently their new CD "Blackheart Revolution" is available for preorder on their site now.  They will be rolling through Columbus on October 3rd.

Also, their single "CUM JUNKIE " is available as a vinyl 7.

If you don't know, Genitorturers are a lot like Lords of Acid content wise, but much more metal and less electronic.

Deftones to release new album

Tuesday, September 29, 2009
According to MetalHammer, The Deftones are planning on releasing a new album before 2010. The front man, Chino Moreno, says that “It has our core sound but it’s different again from our other records. We just know that we’ve got a killer record that we’re all proud of. You’ll understand why when you hear it.”

Honestly, a lot of times the Deftones sound is too whiney for my tastes. They are known for doing something different with each album, so you know it'll be at least worth a listen.

Alice in Chains return with Black Gives Way to Blue

Monday, September 28, 2009
Sometimes... you just wish a band would be allowed to die. Guns 'n' Roses and Metallica come to mind.

Sometimes... even after losing big, a band can carry on as good as ever. Ala AC/DC and Metallica (post Cliff Burton; pre 'Load')

Jerry Cantrell's newly reformed Alice in Chains with singer William DuVall falls into the latter category. Black Gives Way to Blue does not try to imitate what made AIC legendary, but evolves it. With thundering bass and drums, heavy guitars, and powerful and personal lyrics, Cantrell and friends are going through a deep dark and personal Hell... and bringing you along with them. Even though he is no longer among us, Layne's influence can be found throughout the album.

Judas Priest frontman to release....Christmas album?

Sunday, September 27, 2009
Rob Halford, the leatherclad leader of Judas Priest that somehow shocked the nation when he came out of the closet Rob Halford, is set to release a Christmas Album(!). That's right. I can't make this shit up.

The album will be released on Halford's own Metal God label (!!) on October 26 (!!!). Releasing a Christmas album on a metal label? That's metal. Releasing a Christmas album in October? This better be the most metal Christmas album ever.

I can envision Christmas Metal classics such as Breaking the Chestnuts on an Open Fire, and Holly Jolly Christmas after Midnight.

The album is available for Pre-Order now at http://www.metalgodshop.com/

Fucking Awesome Friday - Death Metal Miley Cyrus vs Disney Slipknot

I feel that Fridays call for something fucking awesome, so I'm proud to introduce Fucking Awesome Friday. FAF will feature an awesome, wtf, or generally entertaining music related video.  For the inagural FAF, I decided to make it a doube shot of awesomesauce.

First up we have Slipknot - Wait and Bleed (Radio Disney Version).  This is awesome beyond description.

And just to keep things fair and balanced, here is Miley Cyrus - The Climb (Metal Version)

I can't stop laughing at the Disney-pop Slipknot. These were done by the awesome Andy Rehfeldt. Check out his Myspace for more mashup-awesomeness!

Please leave a comment about who you think wins this round! ;)

Kittie - In the Black

I must admit that Kittie has fallen off my radar in recent years. All their albums since Oracle have suffered from one fatal flaw. They are able to come up with some damn good riffs, then blow it as soon as Morgan Lander, the vocalist, opened her mouth. After hearing some things here and there about their latest effort, I decided to check it out. And I am glad I did. While not going down as a classic, In The Black is easily their best effort since Oracle.

Alice in Chains short film discussing Layne and William

Thursday, September 24, 2009
Last week Alice in Chains released a short 12 minute film discussing Layne and the new album. It features interviews with all the band members. They discuss the touring they did with William and how the new album came to be. Check it out below.

I particularly like the KISS makeup, then hanging out in a laundromat

Chickenfoot - The Not so Supergroup

When I first came across Chickenfoot, I was excited.  For those who don't know, Chickenfoot is a "supergroup" consisting of Van Halen vets Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony,  Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, and guitarist Joe Satriani.  I have been a Satriani fan for a long time now and am amazed by his talent.
